Math & reading, K through 5
How tutoring actually works here.
One tutor, one child, sixty minutes. Below is exactly what happens in a session, what we cover at each grade, and what it costs. No packages, no surprises.
Math tutoring
Math, from counting to confident.
Math builds in a straight line. When one brick is missing, everything stacked on top of it wobbles. We find the missing brick first, put it back, and then keep going. No child is bad at math. They usually just skipped a step and nobody noticed.
- Number sense, place value, and counting fluency
- Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts
- Fractions, and word problems that stop being scary
Reading tutoring
Reading, one sound at a time.
Some kids need phonics rebuilt from the ground up. Others read the words fine but lose the meaning halfway down the page. We figure out which kind of reader your child is, then work the exact piece that is holding them back until reading feels easy enough to enjoy.
- Phonics and decoding the sounds letters make
- Fluency, so reading out loud stops being a struggle
- Comprehension, so the story actually sticks
Grade by grade
Five grades, one approach that flexes.
Letter sounds, counting, and the early habits that make first grade land softly. We keep it playful and short-burst so a five-year-old stays with us.
Decoding into real reading, and math facts that need to become automatic. This is where a small gap is cheapest to close.
Comprehension, multi-step problems, fractions, and the confidence to keep up as the work gets heavier. We rebuild footing without falling behind the class.
We tutor kindergarten through 5th grade only. We do not offer middle or high school tutoring, so we can stay excellent at the years we do serve.
How a session works
Sixty minutes, built for one kid.
Warm up
A few minutes to settle in and pick up exactly where last week ended.
The work
The core of the hour, aimed at the one thing that will help your child most right now.
Win and wrap
End on something they got right, and a quick note to you on how it went.
Most families come once or twice a week, same day and same time, with the same tutor every visit. You are welcome to stay and watch any session.
Pricing
One price. Said plainly.
Thirty-five dollars for a full sixty-minute session, one to one. No packages to buy, no multi-child discount, no fine print.
You pay in person, session by session. If it is not working, you stop. That is the whole arrangement.
per 60-minute, one-to-one session
- No packages or contracts
- Pay in person, per session
- The tour is always free
Homeschool support
Specialist backup for homeschool families.
You run the curriculum. Sometimes one subject needs a specialist, and that is where we fit. We are not here to take over. We take one subject off your plate and give it real one-to-one attention.
- Weekday daytime hours, which most centers do not offer
- We slot into your plan for math or reading, not around it
- Same tutor each week, same flat $35 per session
Questions parents ask
Straight answers, before you call.
How long are sessions, and how often should my child come?
Every session is a full 60 minutes. Most children come once or twice a week. We will give you an honest recommendation after the tour, based on where your child is starting.
Can I stay and watch?
Yes, always. You are welcome to sit in on any session. Some parents stay for the first few weeks and then wait in the waiting area once their child settles in.
Will my child have the same tutor every week?
Yes. The same tutor every week is the whole point. That continuity is what lets your child build trust and lets the tutor remember exactly where you left off.
What if my child has an IEP or a learning difference?
We work with many children who have an IEP. We are a supplemental tutor, not a replacement for school services or a diagnostic evaluation, but our one-to-one setting is a good fit for kids who need a calmer pace. Tell us what you know at the tour and we will be honest about fit.
Do you assign homework?
Rarely, and only light practice if it will genuinely help. The child's plate is already full. The hour with us is where the work happens.
What if we need to cancel a session?
Life happens. Give us a call or text as early as you can and we will find another time. Because you pay per session, there is nothing to forfeit.
Do you tutor middle or high school?
No. We tutor kindergarten through 5th grade only. Staying in that band is how we stay genuinely good at it.
Do you offer online sessions?
No. Every session is in person at our room on West Michigan Avenue. Sitting at the same table is a big part of why it works.
Schedule a tour
The best way to understand it is to see it.
Bring your child, meet a tutor, and watch how the room feels. Free, no obligation, and usually the moment a parent decides.
